OUR STORY
I’ve always appreciated how things were made. My dad and my grandfather were jewelry makers and I remember being mesmerized by their skill, and how they used their hands to create beauty. My dad is a craftsman. I’d sit in the garage and help him wipe sharpie marks off his stained-glass projects. I’d sit with trays of gemstones and he’d quiz me on which was which. I’d dig through the dirt at gem shows. Even then, I just wanted to learn and explore.
I didn’t get to travel as a kid, but my heart called me to see more. I became a flight attendant and did lots of international trips for nine years. I saw pretty quickly that each place had something unique for which they were known. I didn’t have money to buy anything, but man, did I experience as much as I could through my interactions and experiences with each culture. My intrigue and and fascinations continued to run wild.
Years later, after I got married and had two amazing kids, we lived overseas, traveled again, and all my flight attendant dreams were reignited. I started going to places, places that were so off the beaten path honestly maybe I shouldn’t have gone, and seeing what was being made. I started collecting little things. While living in Bahrain, I’d bring home little mementos. Other’s interest and enjoyment of my finds gave me confidence that I was onto to something special.
In my bones I felt that my vision of a retail store was possible, but I knew it had to be different than any other store out there. It had to be true to my experiences traveling and getting to know the craftsmen. I always buy from my gut instinct. I have to feel connected, not just to the product, but to the maker. I absolutely believe that the energy of the creator is transferred into their creations and that feeling radiates through my treasures.
This store has brought me joy for three years and counting... So happy to share this joy with you.
